SCHOOL: FROM EARLY CHILDHOOD

EDUCATION (ECE) THROUGH UNIVERSITY

TBG's experience designing mechanical systems for Public and Private Early Childhood Education (ECE or Pre-K), primary and secondary education facilities is extensive.  Historically, we have concentrated approximately 40 - 60% of our annual project workload on education projects.

We've worked on new construction, additions, remodels and retrofits, both as a sub-consultant to an architect, as part of a design/build team contracted either to the owner or construction team, or as the prime consultant contracted directly to the building owner.  As the Prime Consultant we assume the responsibilities that accompany this position, including:  coordination of all engineering and architectural designs, issuance of Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documents (SD, DD and CD) specifications and drawings, submission of CDs for permits, coordination of Construction Administration between owner, all Consultants, and construction teams, and accepting full payments from the project Owner and distributing it to sub-consultants.

We have worked with most of the school districts in the Denver-metro area, including extensive work with Denver Public Schools, Jefferson County School District, and Aurora Public Schools.  In addition we have worked with multiple school districts in North-Central Colorado such as Poudre School District in Fort Collins/LaPorte,  Platte Valley Schools in Kersey, and Weld County School District #1, #4 and #6.

Following are representative Primary Schools and  Inclusive (K-8 or K-12), Middle, Secondary Schools  & District Facilities projects with mechanical designs by TBG.

Primary Schools

Includes Early Childhood Education (ECE), Pre-School/Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and 1st Grade through 5th or 6th Grade.

University or Post-Secondary Education

University, or post-secondary education buildings, often include multiple uses within one building, such as Classrooms & Laboratories, Residence Hall & Dining. Additionally, while each campus maintains an individual architectural character they all tend toward the technological and ecological cutting edge with each building design, whether a new building, renovation or retrofit.

Although older projects don't carry much weight in the fast-paced engineering design world, University/Higher Education buildings are the exception. They are typically used for  a long time with little change from the building's original purpose.  Money is spent on remodels and system retrofits to maintain modernity in older buildings, but buildings are rarely completely demolished to make way for an updated building.
